CALL FOR PROPOSALS – Minute vidéo 2027

Calls for briefs
Deadline : 8 December 2026

Once again this year, Folie/Culture is celebrating video art with a call for proposals for its iconic Minute Vidéo. During this annual event, experimental films are created and screened to spark reflection on mental health issues in a creative and inclusive way. Anyone who wants to give it a shot is invited to produce a 60-second film on original topics inspired by the theme proposed by Folie/Culture’s programming committee.

Theme: Time Off

For this edition of the Minute Vidéo, Folie/Culture invites you to take some time off from making sense.

Life is full of rigid schedules: go to work on Monday, sleep at night, eat at noon. It feels like even free time needs to be optimized. You’re supposed to make the most of your vacation, rest efficiently, and come back ready to hit the ground running. But when everything’s on a timetable, don’t you end up staying “on” and performing even during breaks?

Time Off is an invitation to deliberately turn your everyday schedule on its head: go about your “day” at night, speak a made-up language, arrive too early, or leave just as things are getting started. Challenging those routines also means recognizing that everyone’s on a different timeline. Depending on what’s going on in their life, someone’s day might be dragged out by insomnia, shortened by illness, or simply spent doing nothing on the beach. Your day runs on a schedule, but that negatively dictates how you spend your downtime and breaks. When meetings and get-togethers are planned almost down to the minute, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that this strict planning is nothing more than a habit, a form of conditioning. This is your invitation to schedule some time that’s all your own… even if it’s only a minute.

Selection

Folie/Culture’s programming committee will select 10–15 videos from the submitted proposals.

The selected videos will be shown during a fun evening screening at the Charpente des Fauves. Artists and the general public are invited to attend. A $154 artist fee will be paid for each selected video.

Guidelines

  • Duration: 60 seconds, no more, no less.
  • Types of video: fiction, documentary, video art, animation, or animated GIF.
  • Accepted formats: uncompressed .mov or .avi, or .gif.
  • Only original or royalty-free music is permitted. If the music is not your own creation, you must provide the following information:
    • title, performer, year
    • proof of copyright release or acquisition.

To facilitate the process, please complete the submission form by 11:59 p.m. on December 8, 2026.

Proposals received after this deadline will be disqualified without notice.

Artists may submit an unlimited number of proposals. A separate form is required for each submission.

Folie/Culture strongly encourages proposals from people and practices that are under-represented in the arts. Applicants who find it difficult to submit the required material in the desired format may contact the team to make alternate arrangements for submission.
