New creative workshops – Honors
September 11, 18 and 25 and November 13, 20 and 27, 2018
Folie/Culture was offering three half-day workshops hosted and directed by artist Josée Landry-Sirois and art historian Jeanne Couture. These workshops were available to visitors at four different mental health facilities in the Quebec City region, including l’Amarrage and the Centre de parrainage civique de Québec. Participants had the opportunity to engage in a truly creative experience using a range of media: drawing, stamping, writing, collage, and weaving. They were able to express themselves freely and to conduct practical experiments on the theme of pride. Later, they were invited to share what gives them pride and to work on the idea of succeeding by creating a final image on paper or cardboard. The participants’ illustrations were then rendered as a medal using a 3D printer. All works completed during the workshops were displayed at the public exhibition, The Honoring.
