FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2013 – FROM 3:30 TO 7:30 P.M.
(Charest/de la Couronne corner), Québec

For the third consecutive year, there were many of you who came to encourage the Folie/Culture team who participated in the Un abri pour la nuit contest on Friday, October 18, 2013. In 2011 and 2012, it won the first prize by popular vote. For this new edition, the Folie/Culture team, with Alexandra Cantin Martineau, Mathieu Fecteau, Marion Gotti, Mathieu Gotti, Alexandre Demard and Kathleen Saint-Laurent had planned to triumph again! This was unfortunately not the case: the team came second, after a very tight vote. Organized in Québec by the Regroupement pour l’aide aux itinérants et itinérantes de Québec at the 24th Nuit des sans-abri in Québec, the Un abri pour la nuit contest provided an opportunity for teams of all backgrounds to compete in a friendly cardboard house construction contest. A popular vote determined the best homeless shelter.

The 24th Nuit des sans-abri took place across Québec to break through indifference and reduce prejudice against homeless people and to show them solidarity. This act took the form of a vigil under the stars where the population and homeless people intertwine. Folie/Culture invited you to participate with it in the spirit of solidarity.
