Folie/Culture at the 23rd Nuit des sans-abri
PLACE DE L’UNIVERSITÉ-DU-QUÉBEC
(At the corner of Charest and de la Couronne)
The team from Folie/Culture was participating for the second time in the Un abri pour la nuit (A Shelter for the Night) contest on Friday, October 19, 2012. Last year by popular vote, it was awarded first prize. For this new edition, the Folie/Culture team made up of artists Mathieu Gotti and Mathieu Fecteau, as well as Jean-Pierre Guay, Alexandra Cantin Martineau, and Marion Gotti literally triumphed!
Organized by the Regroupement pour l’aide aux itinérants et itinérantes de Québec at the 23rd Nuit des sans-abri, the competition, Un abri pour la nuit, provided an opportunity for six teams from varied backgrounds to compete amicably in building cardboard houses. A popular vote determined the best home-shelter!
The 23rd Nuit des sans-abri took place all across Québec and aimed to break down indifference, reduce prejudice against homeless people and demonstrate our solidarity with them. This expression of support took the form of an outdoors vigil where the people of the street and the general population could meet. Folie/Culture invited you to join them in a spirit of solidarity.
