Foire aux malaises
Québec
Participant(s): Myriam Bizier, Les Causes perdues, Doyon-Rivest, Jean-Yves Fréchette, Mariette et Henri, Jocelyn Robert, Jean-Claude St-Hilaire, Giorgia Volpe.
In the atmosphere of a fair and a flea-market, Foire aux malaises drew on the various areas of discomfort that mark our lives: mental, social, financial, physiological. Each of the citizens present was invited to share about these anxieties in one way or another. The goal was to transform any operation into a work of art that reflected each individual.
The artists designed seven different stands or stations to which people were invited to talk about themselves, to play, to exchange, or yet again to illustrate through sound a malaise that haunted them. The celebration was hosted by Jean-Yves Frechette, Master of Ceremonies and crowd controller.
As a finale to the festivities, a brass band of 20 musicians orchestrated a noisy parade so that everybody could yell for joy about finally being liberated.
