Folie/Culture, in collaboration with the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, presented the exhibition Faire Manie (2). The artist Josée Sirois Landry continued the creative workshop Faire Manie, this time proposing the use of fabric as the main material to produce a new tapestry of “obsessions.”

Each participant fueled the idea of obsession and took up the challenge of reproducing the same pattern to create an ornament with its own language. It is through automation and repetition of artistic gestures that increased feelings become visible, as a new expression. The medium then becomes a sensitive quest where the imagination and the intimate intersect to form a lyric collection on mania itself.

Pooled works by: Blar, Yacynte Couture, Caroline Dion, Marie-Dominique Rouleau, Shental, and Sylvestre.

A young artist from Québec city, Josée Landry Sirois’s medium of choice is drawing. Influenced by architecture, urbanism, and codified writing, she sets down on her paper high-energy graphic gestures where structure and deconstruction face off. Her work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Canada.
