Video initiation workshop
Québec
Participant(s): Ricardo Savard, JF Dugas, Guillaume Girard
Folie/Culture invited people with mental health problems to participate in an initiation workshop on video production. The workshop was held on February 14, 15, and 16, 2011 at the Musée de la civilisation in Québec.
Firstly, participants had the opportunity to take part in a writing workshop to create a scenario given by an author, Nora Atalla. Subsequently, they produced short clips shot in one sequence. The works became part of the Minute video Folie/Culture 2011, which were shown in a public place during a special evening.
For this new edition, the theme of the Minute video was “Bring out your dead.”
Bring out your dead was an invitation to release the thousands of small dead, whether we are talking about interior death, the one that is a part of each of us, and that smothers us completely, or about death outside the body, which is just as shameful, and that we would like to forget. Looking at ourselves, and our painful manias is an invitation to self-criticism, atonement, and emotional cleansing.
