Published since 1990, Les Cahiers Folie/Culture aim to bring to life artistic proposals based on a theme, and are truly interdisciplinary creative ventures. They explore visual, literary and sound creation. They are a meeting place for recognized artists and “certified” crazy people. The common treatment applied to individuals avoids stigmatization and enables the construction of an alternative expression, all in a format mimicking the art book.

The external form of these Cahiers is itself the fruit of research, the parameters of which are determined by the Folie/Culture programming committee according to the theme of each publication. Cahier objet? Objet d’art? Les Cahiers Folie/Culture are unclassifiable… and so they should be! Surprising objects to say the least, they invite you to weigh, to feel, to look, to read and also to hear.

Folie/Culture is therefore looking for reproducible works of all kinds to include in its next Cahier F/C on the theme Keep that door closed. The external form of the work is still to be determined, but all mediums and supports are welcome: painting, drawing, sound or video art, small objects, essays, stories, poetry and so on. A remuneration agreement will be drawn up with the artists whose works are selected according to size and reproduction methods.

Send us your proposal in the form that suits you (text, visual or audio), paying attention to these five points:
– Give details of the proposed work (title, year of creation, dimensions, materials or techniques, etc.);
– Explain how your work fits in with the organization’s mission and theme Keep this door closed;
– Indicate whether the work has been previously exhibited. If so, please provide a history of the work’s dissemination (exhibition, publication, screening, etc.);
– Insert images with description (10 max.) and/or web links;
– Include any other relevant information.
Accepted formats: PDF documents, MP3 sound, MP4 video (max 5 minutes), JPG images, websites.

To facilitate receipt of submissions, please send them by March 14, 2024, 11:59 p.m., to programmation@folieculture.org, following the instructions below:
– One e-mail for each proposal sent;
– Subject line: Keep this door closed. Component (Video Minute, Broadcast or F/C Booklet);
– In the e-mail: indicate your full name or artist name, your customary pronouns and the city where you live and work.

Applications received after this date will not be considered.

Folie/Culture strongly encourages applications from people and practices that are under-represented in the arts. Applicants who have difficulty providing the required material in the suggested format may contact the team to arrange a customized submission.
