Québec, January 19, 2016 — Folie/Culture offers the opportunity for all professional or amateur artists, members, social stakeholders, families and friends, to become involved in a unique reflective experience : to create a one-minute video around the theme Ostentatious Normality.

Again this year, La Minute vidéo Folie/Culture is proposing a reflection on the theme of Ostentatious Normality. Since normality is drab by definition, how can it be turned into something ostentatious? Ostentatious normality is seen as an opening onto marginal spaces: sexuality, hideous behaviours, cultural fusion, and ruptures of all kinds. The idea is to present unheard of forms as commonplace and normal; in short, to make ostentatious what is otherwise hidden and unexciting. We contrast the fearful modesty of the shy to the ostentatious jubilation of our bad behaviour. There is nothing left in the closet.

The chosen Minutes vidéo will be presented during a public event sometime in the 2016-17 programming season.To participate, you can:

OPTION A: Make a video — fiction, documentary, video art — in a one-minute continuous sequence shot, around the theme Ostentatious Normality.

OPTION B : Produce a one-minute animated video around the theme
Ostentatious Normality.
Only original, non-copyright music will be accepted
