Introduction to Video Animation Workshop 2013

Friday the 8th, Saturday the 9th, and Sunday the 10th of February 2013
Given the success of the workshop in the winter of 2012,Folie/Culture was happy to offer it again. In collaboration with the Musée de la civilisation, the workshop, led by Ricardo Savard, took place on February 8, 9 and 10, 2013 and was offered in priority to people who have or have had a mental health problem.

During this workshop, participants were able to experience animation frame by frame using the Dragon Stop Motion software. At first, participants were given the chance to take part in a screenwriting workshop given by the author Isabelle Forest. Later, they created, in teams, a short animated film that would be presented at a public event in October 2013.

Folie/Culture proposed the following theme during the workshop: Aliénés de tous les pays, unissons-nous! A concept that has a strong historical connotation, alienation remains a resolutely contemporary idea. In addition to mental alienation, a mental disconnect between the “insane” and the world, comes social alienation, which occurs when the individual is most often dispossessed of his own will, and even the outside world. A nod to Marx’s call to the proletariat, the theme chosen by Folie/Culture proposes to unite the alienated from all countries.
