On Saturday, December 3, Folie/Culture was at the 14th edition of the Salon Nouveau Genre to present the work created as part of the fall 2016 Fanzine Creation Workshop. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., visitors could enjoy the selection of zines made by workshop participants, some of whom were on hand to talk about their experience.

The Salon was also the perfect venue to pick up a copy of Cahier Folie/Culture No. 11, a bold, formally original series of publications broadly in the tradition of artist’s books, available for $40 ($46 with taxes).

Again this year, Salon Nouveau Genre was a not-to-be missed event for everyone interested in independent artistic creation.

The Fanzine Creation Workshop

In collaboration with Maison des métiers d’art de Québec, and led by artists Olivier Bhérer-Vidal and Marie Gilbert, the Fanzine Creation Workshop introduced participants to the process of making their own zines and provided them the opportunity to freely express themselves on various themes. With no restrictions, participants produced short publications through exploration and experimentation with techniques such as drawing, writing, collage, and binding.
