Role of the Programming Committee
In an effort to offer rich, innovative and relevant programming every year, Folie/Culture surrounds itself with volunteer collaborators who work to raise questions and define themes related to its mandate of promoting, raising awareness and providing information on mental health.
The Programming Committee is responsible for the artistic direction of Folie/culture. It defines and implements the overall artistic line and builds the organization’s cultural offering.
More specifically, the Programming Committee is responsible for :
- considering and defining the biennial theme;
- participating in the ideation and development of artistic projects;
- selecting artists’ submissions according to the established theme;
- recommend or invite different collaborators depending on the project;
- deliberate on juries.
Profile required
The Programming Committee relies on the complementary expertise of its members to carry out its duties effectively.
The group is made up of 10 members from a variety of backgrounds: professional and emerging artists, community and social workers, cultural workers and art historians.
To complete the group, the committee is looking for candidates with expertise in any of the following areas (university students in these fields are also invited to apply):
- Social work;
- Psychology;
- Sociology; Philosophy
- Philosophy;
- Psychiatry;
- Street work;
- Psycho-education;
- Special education;
- Psychosocial or community intervention.
The following skills will be taken into consideration:
- Open-mindedness and intellectual curiosity;
- creativity;
- A sense of aesthetics;
- Knowledge of the mental health field and its issues;
- Sensitivity to contemporary art.
It is important to note that Folie/Culture values all applications from diverse backgrounds, to ensure inclusiveness in the projects deployed. We strongly encourage people from under-represented groups to apply.
Commitment
The term of office is one year, renewable annually. The committee meets about six times a year, depending on the projects in progress.
