CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS – Minute vidéo 2026

Calls for briefs
Deadline : 11 December 2025

This year again, Folie/Culture is celebrating video art with a call for submissions to its emblematic Minute Vidéo. The annual event dedicated to the creation and dissemination of experimental films aims to spark reflection on mental health issues in a creative and inclusive way. Anyone willing to join the game is invited to produce a 60-second film on original topics inspired by the theme proposed by Folie/Culture’s programming committee.

Theme: POTLUCK

Food, like joy, tastes better when shared.

Through this theme, Folie/Culture wishes to stimulate an imagination that is both literal and conceptual: one that encompasses food, small or large gatherings, the variety of colors and textures, as well as collectivity, sharing, and common experience.

Inclusive, nourishing, and eclectic, the potluck is an opportunity for each person to contribute to something larger than themselves, within their means. It is a collective experience that invites giving and receiving, being open to the unknown, and welcoming the unexpected. This space of sharing allows — and even requires — a certain letting go of control: no matter how carefully it is orchestrated, there will always remain the possibility of an unforeseen imbalance. It also implies an attention to the Other — their needs, sensitivities, preferences — so that everyone can find their place and take part fully.

In all its variety, fortuity, and striking simplicity, the potluck ultimately becomes a place where everyone participates in a unique process and outcome. Oscillating between variety and uniformity, one may sometimes end up with 10 bags of chips, because that’s the kind of joy we never get tired of. After all, it is precisely because each person brings their own flavor that the feast becomes richer, and shared joy tastes all the better.

Selection

Folie/Culture’s programming committee will select between 10 and 15 works from the submitted proposals.

The selected videos will then be screened at a festive evening at Cinéma Beaumont, where both artists and the general public will be invited to attend. A fee of $154 will be paid to the artist for each selected work.

Guidelines

  • Duration: 60 seconds, no more, no less.

  • Types of video: fiction, documentary, video art, animation, or animated GIF.

  • No credits (we will add standardized credits during the screening).
  • Only original or royalty-free music is permitted. If the music is not your own creation, you must provide the following information:

    • Title, performer, year

    • Proof of release or rights acquisition

  • Accepted formats: uncompressed .mov or .avi, or .gif.

To facilitate the submission process, please complete the submission form by December 11, 2025, 11:59 p.m.
Proposals received after this deadline will be disqualified without notice.

Each artist may submit an unlimited number of proposals. A separate form must be completed for each submission.

Folie/Culture strongly encourages proposals from people and practices under-represented in the arts. Applicants who find it difficult to provide the required material in the suggested format may contact the team to arrange a customized submission.
